I come to ye, fellow Opponauts, for some suggestions/advice. Truck is totaled. Will need to be replaced in the not-too-distant ( month...s ?) future.
I no longer need a truck, already have a hatchback in the family and would like to get something at least a bit sporty. Have been wanting to try AWD for a long time, but am fine with whatever really. Trying to stay below $10K. Thoughts?

the ducati badge already tells you whats the next thing you should get

You sir, are correct.

Where are you located, and does it have 6.0?
I might be able to contribute to the new car fund for that motor.

Are you okay? Any bumps or aches?

Half the answers are going to be miata or WRX

AWD Charger RT.
Sporty-ish, makes fantastic noises, and burns less oil than a Scoobiedoobaru.

I saw you filed it to light poll.
Well let me present to you stop sign
It was declared a total loss too.

Seriously? Wow.
Although I’d kind of be happier about that. I keep telling myself if I was ever in an accident I’d want to total the car because I don’t want something with an accident on the Carfax and crazy low value.

hmm, 10K... any mileage preferences?
honestly, some recent american muscle has become shockingly affordable. If you can get over RWD year round they seriously aren’t bad cars. Cheap to tune as well. I would go mustang. But then again I am not in that market.

ha ha I just commented asking if it was a 5.3

5.3? Where are you at I like those motors

I wanted my car back, but cost to repair was more than value of car for the insurance. One month after I got a cheque of the amount of brand new Impreza.
Since Suzuki was no longer in the market.

Kinda like what happened to us a few years back. We had a 92 Saab Convertible and back in 04 or 05 it actually spontaneously combusted in our driveway.
They paid us more than if we traded it in or sold it.

If it is a 6.0, it likely has iron heads and a crankshaft flange that protrudes approx. .400" beyond the block. Aluminum wasn’t offered until around 2002, and the flange makes it difficult expensive to bolt to a T56 (though it bolts right up to earlier GM trannies). That said, it would also have a 4L80e, which is nice if you’re not into shifting your own gears.

What?! How is that even possible? And why does the government make road-side infrastructure THAT durable!?
![]() 02/11/2016 at 12:47 |

I know... because I’d take either.

No garage where I’m at, already had to get rid of the truck-as in I don’t own it anymore and wish I could have given the 5.3 to someone who wants it. Only thing it EVER had done was a water pump replacement too.

I am a Chevy guy at heart... but you are totally right, American Muscle is cheap-ish to tune and always a blast. Thanks man!

Oh man, thanks so much for asking Dr!
Yeah, OK except for no vehicle now, ha ha.

that stop sign is still standing today. My car powerslid into the base of the stop sign. As you can see by the flat part of my wheel. Not the ground was really really frozen last winter. in my area they claimed that the ground was frozen 10-15 feet down. Normal over here is 4-5 feet for the winter.
The real damage was to the rear drivetrain, since the wheel took most of the hit.
Everytime I pass that stop sign I curse at it....
It killed my friend(SX4) nobody was harmed

1st L92 heads are dirt cheap.
2nd The TKO 5 speed doesn’t care what motor you bolt it to and has a mechanical speedo gear.

I can attest to the 6.0L/L92 sentiment, though selling 317s can help the wallet a little. But the crank flange assuredly affects parts needed, even for the TKO. I’d bet a unique flywheel and bell housing spacers are necessary (they are for the T56).
I’ve been through this in my Nova. But don’t let it stop you, it’s totally worth it.

Never even thought of that, worth looking at.

Get a late 06+ car. Early 05-06 cars have head issues. An 07+ would be perfect.
